Hot Works Permit Certificate

Class Description

Participants in this course must show State issued drivers’ license or federal identification card and UBC ID card!  Member must also have an active email account in order to register for the course and in order to complete testing.

(Please note that the day before class (or the day of class) you will receive an EMAIL from NFPA to pre-register. Please do so. If you need assistance with this part, the instructor can help you on the day of class).

*****CITY OF BOSTON: Beginning January 1, 2025, Boston Fire Department will enforce a three-year renewal requirement on the Hot Work Safety Training Program.  This means when presenting the NFPA Hot Work Training Certificate, the date of issue must be within three years. **********

As required by Boston City Ordinance beginning January 1st, 2017: all workers must attend Hot Works Permit Training and pass a written exam with a score of 80% or higher.  Testing will be on site following the instruction. Grading of the exam will be done by the NFPA.

*this course is anywhere from 3 to 4 hours as there is a test at the end. (depends on individual test time at the end).

 

 

Required Equipment

Members attending training must provide their own safety shoes, safety goggles, gloves, ear protection and hard hats. Failure to provide your own safety equipment may result in your being dropped from a particular training session.

Attendance Requirements

Attendance at the first training session is mandatory. 100% attendance is required for all courses that issue Certificates or Qualifications and Apprentice mandatory training. Please be on time! Late arrivals (and early departures) are disruptive to instructors and participants. Poor attendance / disruptive behavior will result in your being dropped from a particular training session.

Cancellation Policy

To maximize the effectiveness of our training sessions, we limit the number of attendees. If you are registered for a specific training and need to cancel, please notify us five (5) business days before the start of scheduled training. Failure to notify us of cancellation may result in your being denied registration for future training. We reserve the right to cancel any course - with two (2) business days’ notice - for which there is an insufficient number of registered attendees. Registrants may then enroll in the next available offering of the course, or cancel the registration.
