Estimating – Online

Class Description

This course provides an introduction to estimating practices used in the construction industry. The student will learn traditional and electronic methods for determining costs and bid preparation. Background information on materials and methods used in the construction process will be presented. The outline for the course follows the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) MasterFormat 2004 divisions.

This 24 hour course builds on the skills obtained in both Print Reading & Construction Master Pro calculator class. Participants will use blueprints and specifications to generate Manual Construction Material Takeoffs (MTO). Takeoff data will then be utilized in creating full project estimates. Topics will include Blueprints, Specifications, Construction Master Pro Calculator, Manual Material Takeoff Practices, Estimating Processes and Practices, as well as multiple estimating case studies in small groups.
Prerequisite: Print Reading class (strongly recommended)& Construction Master Pro Calculator classes prior to taking this course or have the equivalent in job experience.
