Career Connection Resources

The following Lesson Plans are Massachusetts Frameworks Based Lesson Plans. Teachers are able to download the lessons in many formats, i.e. pdf, word, doc, etc. then edit to meet their individual needs, or conform to school specific templates. If you are looking for the CITF general lesson plans, refer to your resource CD included in the Teacher Annotated Edition.

Carpentry Frameworks Based Lesson Plans

Chapter One

Demonstration on how to identify hazards, lecture on safe work habits and attitudes. Field trip to a jobsite or the Union Training Hall to see the task performed by professional carpenters.

Demonstration on how to identify and use and maintenance of each tool, lecture on safe work habits and respect for tools, reference to the Career Connections Book 1, and hands-on practice with each tool.

Demonstration on use and maintenance of each tool, lecture on safe work habits and respect for tools, reference to the Career Connections Book 1 Chapter 3, Pages and hands-on practice with each tool.

Chapter Four

Demonstration on how to identify and use and maintenance of each tool, lecture on safe work habits and respect for tools, reference to the Career Connections Book 1 Chapter 4, and hands-on practice with each tool. Try to have enough tools for each student or small group of students. Depending on the tool quantities in your shop, you could dedicate a station to each tool and then students could be divided into small groups and rotate through each station.

One Trade Many Careers Lesson Plans

Chapter One

Students will be able to: Explain the role of values in selecting a career. Describe how attitudes shape behavior and form the basis of the perception of others. Relate the importance of people skills to being successful in the workplace. Develop plans for reaching goals. Identify the value of vision in career planning.

Students will be able to: Identify interests and personal achievements that give meaning to their lives. Recognize different types of learning preferences and know how they prefer to learn. Identify decision-making styles and learn how to make thoughtful decisions.

Students will be able to: Describe characteristics of the modern workplace and recognize the reasons people work. Identify qualities employers expect from employees.
